Fuel filter change on Peugeot 106... how important?

I've had my Peugeot 106 for just over 2 years now, but it's just over 6 years old, and only 41,000 miles on the clock. I need to get it serviced but don't know what type of service I need, I have been told that there's a basic one, and also one where they change the fuel filter for 100 more... seems pretty expensive to me, but how important is it to get this changed? The last time it was serviced was at 30,000 miles, before I got it... Please help!Fuel filter change on Peugeot 106... how important?Look in the vehicle handbook, it will give the service schedule for the 106, different cars have different features which need attention, I guess the 106 is a diesel,

The minor service, drain oil and replace with Crappo brand oil, wipe the oil filter to make it look like new and tell you you need 400 worth of tyres/ shocks/ alignment etc is a Crap fit speciality and is OK if you do 6000 per year to get the tyres tread checked and oil changed, but it aint a service, but they wont do the little things that a decent local garage will do and you can easily find the cam belt change mileage has slipped by and you need a new engine 'cause it has snapped.

Oil suffers from short journeys, condensation forms internally, then boils off after about 6 or 7 miles when the oil temp comes up, if the engine does not run at full temperature for a while the resulting water sinks to the bottom of the engine raising the oil level, after a while internal corrosion starts, and the ol level gets too high which starts oil loss through the breather system, if the car then does a motorway journey the water boils off and the oil level drops alarmingly for this reason a short journey car should have 6 montly oil changes, while a 10 000 per year can make do with a 12 monthly changes. Low mileage cars are not a particularly clever buy, One of mine has done 172 000 at present, it replaced a newer one of the same model which was uneconomic to repair at 89 000, but it still gets regular services despite running out of service book at 96 000,

Fuel filters are use related not age, use the same supermarket for fuel every time the filter will probably outlive the car fill up from local garages, with dirty stale petrol, you will need a filter about every 20 000, fill up from jerrycans which have been uesed for creosote, it is about 20 miles, I actually managed 2 on one memorble occasion.

So check the handbook, or wander round your pug dealer and ask what their service consists of, write it down and get your local garage to do it, but never exceed time or mileage on a cam belt, my mates Fiat Regatta belt broke 500 miles before the change was due....Fuel filter change on Peugeot 106... how important? It is a good idea to change the fuel filter I can mine on my Peugeot 406 every 12,000 miles as it collects all of the crap from the fuel and fuel tank. I am very surprised that it is an extra 100 as the filter is only pounds and if it is a diesel it is a 5 minute job. If it was me I would get prices from a few more garages as I think they are having a laugh. Good luckFuel filter change on Peugeot 106... how important? If its a petrol 106 with the TU1 engine (1100 cc) then the fuel filter is an in line plastic affair and costs next to nothing from any motor factors.

A reputable garage should change the Oil, filter, Plugs and Air filter. It's not necessary to get the expensive service done yet, and judging by your mileage (approx 5000 a year) then an oil change and basic service is best.

when it hits 50k or even 55k then get a major service done, which will mean brakes, Gearbox oil (possibly) all filters and maybe the coolant changed. Shop around, or get a recommendation from a friend as regarding the best local garage or mechanic to do it.

I have a 205 peugeot with an 1100 cc engine, I've had it since 97, she's done 145,000 miles and gets new oil every 10k and a service every 15.Fuel filter change on Peugeot 106... how important?Considering that you have had two years motoring, 100 doesnt sound out of the way to me theres much more to a service than just changing an fuel filter what about the oil filter and air filter not besides all the checks that have to be carried out on a normal

10000 mile service.
