Can i change my fuel filter with my car running... if i shut it off it wont start again?
Yes, but use a Zippo to see what you are doing, but throw away the fuel filter, and use a french fry instead of a new fuel filter, I've heard this flows better. And don't forget to use the exhaust for your heat. Don't forget to put three more dead fish
in the trunk, you have to keep those things fresh in case you get stuck in there. Hope that helps. Can i change my fuel filter with my car running... if i shut it off it wont start again?no way!Can i change my fuel filter with my car running... if i shut it off it wont start again? Then how do you know its a feul filter. That shouldnt have anything to do with if it will start again. If its only the fuel filter then your car should start after you change it. You also have t disconnect the feul line when changing the filter so there is NO way to do it with the car on.Can i change my fuel filter with my car running... if i shut it off it wont start again?go ahead ..be sure i am on your life insurance policy...i need the money...Can i change my fuel filter with my car running... if i shut it off it wont start again?2 days ago you said you were done asking stupid questions. Can i change my fuel filter with my car running... if i shut it off it wont start again? If your car won't start after you shut it off, you might have bigger problem to worry about than your fuel filter.
Fuel filter is part of the path that the fuel goes through to the engine. If you cut off this part because you need to replace it, no fuel will go to the engine and you engine will shut off automatically.
So either way your engine will be off anyway.
Find out your starting problem first, fix that and then worry about fuel filter later. Unless your fuel filter is so clogged that no fuel goes through, then you can fix the filter first.
But by the fact that your engine still runs, your filter probably has not depleted to that condition.
Good Luck.

i have bmw 320i 6 in-line 1988 auto transmission and i want to know if i have to change the fuel filter because i smell gas near the motor and i have low horse power i change the air filter with cold air intake and change the plugs with 4 heads plugs and nothing change on the power i want to help me on this and see how could i do to fix it . and i want to know if should i to clean the injectorsI have bmw 320i 1988 and i want to ask how to know that i need to change the fuel filter?Find %26amp; fix the leak first. raw gas %26amp; hot engine parts don't mix wellI have bmw 320i 1988 and i want to ask how to know that i need to change the fuel filter? If you are smelling gas, you have a leak. Check around the injectors after the motor has been running and been driven. You should be able to see a visible means of the leak. I have an 87 Accord that was doing the same thing and I had 2 injector seals leaking. I would check this first. If you don't have any leaks that you see, then start checking the fuel lines and seals around the injection system. That smell is coming from somewhere. This would also account for the performance being off and I bet your mileage is down as well.I have bmw 320i 1988 and i want to ask how to know that i need to change the fuel filter? Here is a photo of the fuel filter for the 1988 BMW 325i: http://67.129.153.73/CGv2Production/Pict
When you change the fuel filter look for leaks in the fuel lines.
You might also check the exhaust system to see if the catalytic converter or some other part is clogged. That would also cause low power.I have bmw 320i 1988 and i want to ask how to know that i need to change the fuel filter?sounds like you have head gasket/intake manifold problem. you may need to change that before you clean the fuel injectors. The reason you have low horsepower is a vacuum leak or compression leak is developed once the gasket composition ibreaks down. There may be a pinch in the gasket which allows air to escape since it's no longer tightly sealed. you can also check for a vacuum hose that's not attached to the proper port. This is also a sign that you need a gasket. The pressure from the intake builds up,seeps out and creates a backdraft of pressure throughout the air compression system of the engine that in turn causes hoses to be 'blown off'. 98.9% chance it's the gasket because you smell fuel AND low compression/horsepower. So, get the gasket changed first then clean the injectors. That should solve the problem.

The fuel pump you are looking for is going to be externally mounted under the hood somewhere. It should look somewhat like a black or silver soda can with 2 metal fitting screwed to the top for the fuel system.

How do you change the fuel filter on a 1997 Ford Taurus?
Under the car, in line with the right rear passenger door. The fuel filter is next to the fuel tank. There are white plastic u-shaped clips that slip through the black plastic lines that hold the fuel lines to filter. A medium length flat bladed screwdriver will remove them. Just put the screwdriver under the white plastic clips at the triangle shaped end that is visible at the end of the black plastic lines that attach to the filter. A screw clamp holds the filter in place, the screwdriver will be used to loosen this also. Lefty loosey, righty tighty! Watch out for fuel spray when you take the fuel line off of the filter, it is under pressure, and you should cover the end of the line with a rag to keep the fuel from spraying out towards you. Good luck! Also, make sure the new filter comes with new white plastic u-clips to retain the fuel lines. You will most certainly ruin them upon pulling them out, they can be obtained separately if needed. How do you change the fuel filter on a 1997 Ford Taurus?VERY GOOD ANSWER..I HAVE A 2000 MUSTANG AND IT IS THE SAME PROCEDURE
