  • Can i change my fuel filter with my car running... if i shut it off it wont start again?

Yes, but use a Zippo to see what you are doing, but throw away the fuel filter, and use a french fry instead of a new fuel filter, I've heard this flows better. And don't forget to use the exhaust for your heat. Don't forget to put three more dead fish

in the trunk, you have to keep those things fresh in case you get stuck in there. Hope that helps. Can i change my fuel filter with my car running... if i shut it off it wont start again?no way!Can i change my fuel filter with my car running... if i shut it off it wont start again? Then how do you know its a feul filter. That shouldnt have anything to do with if it will start again. If its only the fuel filter then your car should start after you change it. You also have t disconnect the feul line when changing the filter so there is NO way to do it with the car on.Can i change my fuel filter with my car running... if i shut it off it wont start again?go ahead ..be sure i am on your life insurance policy...i need the money...Can i change my fuel filter with my car running... if i shut it off it wont start again?2 days ago you said you were done asking stupid questions. Can i change my fuel filter with my car running... if i shut it off it wont start again? If your car won't start after you shut it off, you might have bigger problem to worry about than your fuel filter.

Fuel filter is part of the path that the fuel goes through to the engine. If you cut off this part because you need to replace it, no fuel will go to the engine and you engine will shut off automatically.

So either way your engine will be off anyway.

Find out your starting problem first, fix that and then worry about fuel filter later. Unless your fuel filter is so clogged that no fuel goes through, then you can fix the filter first.

But by the fact that your engine still runs, your filter probably has not depleted to that condition.

    Good Luck.

I have bmw 320i 1988 and i want to ask how to know that i need to change the fuel filter?

i have bmw 320i 6 in-line 1988 auto transmission and i want to know if i have to change the fuel filter because i smell gas near the motor and i have low horse power i change the air filter with cold air intake and change the plugs with 4 heads plugs and nothing change on the power i want to help me on this and see how could i do to fix it . and i want to know if should i to clean the injectorsI have bmw 320i 1988 and i want to ask how to know that i need to change the fuel filter?Find %26amp; fix the leak first. raw gas %26amp; hot engine parts don't mix wellI have bmw 320i 1988 and i want to ask how to know that i need to change the fuel filter? If you are smelling gas, you have a leak. Check around the injectors after the motor has been running and been driven. You should be able to see a visible means of the leak. I have an 87 Accord that was doing the same thing and I had 2 injector seals leaking. I would check this first. If you don't have any leaks that you see, then start checking the fuel lines and seals around the injection system. That smell is coming from somewhere. This would also account for the performance being off and I bet your mileage is down as well.I have bmw 320i 1988 and i want to ask how to know that i need to change the fuel filter? Here is a photo of the fuel filter for the 1988 BMW 325i: http://67.129.153.73/CGv2Production/Pict

When you change the fuel filter look for leaks in the fuel lines.

You might also check the exhaust system to see if the catalytic converter or some other part is clogged. That would also cause low power.I have bmw 320i 1988 and i want to ask how to know that i need to change the fuel filter?sounds like you have head gasket/intake manifold problem. you may need to change that before you clean the fuel injectors. The reason you have low horsepower is a vacuum leak or compression leak is developed once the gasket composition ibreaks down. There may be a pinch in the gasket which allows air to escape since it's no longer tightly sealed. you can also check for a vacuum hose that's not attached to the proper port. This is also a sign that you need a gasket. The pressure from the intake builds up,seeps out and creates a backdraft of pressure throughout the air compression system of the engine that in turn causes hoses to be 'blown off'. 98.9% chance it's the gasket because you smell fuel AND low compression/horsepower. So, get the gasket changed first then clean the injectors. That should solve the problem.

  • How do you change the fuel filter on a 1997 Ford Taurus?

Under the car, in line with the right rear passenger door. The fuel filter is next to the fuel tank. There are white plastic u-shaped clips that slip through the black plastic lines that hold the fuel lines to filter. A medium length flat bladed screwdriver will remove them. Just put the screwdriver under the white plastic clips at the triangle shaped end that is visible at the end of the black plastic lines that attach to the filter. A screw clamp holds the filter in place, the screwdriver will be used to loosen this also. Lefty loosey, righty tighty! Watch out for fuel spray when you take the fuel line off of the filter, it is under pressure, and you should cover the end of the line with a rag to keep the fuel from spraying out towards you. Good luck! Also, make sure the new filter comes with new white plastic u-clips to retain the fuel lines. It's a round, silver cylinder approx 3 -4 inches long with a prong coming out of one end and a nut on the other. First, release the fuel pressure by opening the fuel filler door. Then you replace it by squeezing the quick release plastic clip on the front and sliding the fuel line forward; you then use a wrench to loosen the nut on the back. Be prepared for some gas spillage with a container or some old rags. Once it is loosened, you remove it from its bracket, replace it, hook it back up (reverse of what you did) and it should be good to go. If it is E.F.I. there is a small valve that looks just like the one on your tires for inflating air, it is silver in color and has a black removable cap. This is a good source for a lot of the basic maintenance questions.

On my truck the regular interval is listed as 30,000, but under the severe duty it is 15,000 miles.

If you go off roading, tow or live in a mountainous area you would want to use the severe duty interval.

I think maintenance is supposed to be preventive not reactive. I do not subscribe to waiting till a dash light comes on. If you are a do it your self kind of person you will need the proper tool to disconnect the filter. You also need to release the pressure in the fuel line before you attempt to disconnect the filter.

It will only pump with the engine cranking and while its running.

I'm confused by your question though. What was the original problem? The engine didn't crank over from loose battery cables?....or.....It keeps dying because you really do need a fuel pump but tightened the battery cables? Can a battery cause your fuel pump to stop working after changing fuel filter?seems that you have a short, try using a multimeter in serial to check pump amperage, so you would know if is good or not, try also drop voltage on your battery. Can a battery cause your fuel pump to stop working after changing fuel filter? You make it sound like the truck has a electric fuel pump, There is a high pressure cut off on electric fuel pump,to stop the pump if the engine does not start. It now could be any thing. why was the engine running while you were tighten the cables, you could have burn out a fuse or something. start over, and check all. You can leak down the fuel pressure at a fitting on the rail, but if you do not know what you are doing you could start a fire. Does the battery still have a charge? If it does then the fuel pump should be working When you say the truck will not crank do you mean the engine will not turn over or it will not run? If it does not turn over, then recheck the cable clamp and battery. if it will not run, i can not help with what you have giving me to work with. Can a battery cause your fuel pump to stop working after changing fuel filter? No it can not.

I have a 1998 Chevy Malibu. I want to change the spark plugs and fuel filter.?

I looked underneath the hood and could not visibly see the spark plugs. I dont want to start removing things if I dont know where exactly to look. Can someone give details on where to find the plugs?? Also, on how to change the fuel filter?? Thanks for your help!!!I have a 1998 Chevy Malibu. I want to change the spark plugs and fuel filter.?I am a GM service manager and I tend to agree withthe other answer you have from the Dodge guy. But here's what you can do. First determine the engine size that you have ( 3.1L or a 2.4L or maybe a 3.4L). Next, contact your local GM dealer and ask them if you can get them to pull up document #184476 for the 3.1 or document #256434 if you have the 2.4L from their GM service Information (SI) webpage. They will know exactly what this is. Those before mentioned documents are the service procedures for changing the spark plugs in each respective engine. Note that these engines are very different. You can have them fax these over to you. They are only about 1-2 pages long with illustrations. Now if you still feel sketchy about it, you should probably take the vehicle in to a shop to have the work done. If you are using platinum plugs, you will only have to pay a shop to change the plugs every about 100,000 miles or so. Probably worth the price seeing as how long you can go before you need them done again.

As far as the fuel filter. I'm not sure if your's is in-line or in the tank. If it's in the tank, you would consider it unservicable. And even if you wanted to service it yourself, I have reservations about instructing you on changing it. You see there is pressure on the fuel line and if you try to open the line, fuel will come out. You could hurt yourself or cause a catastrophic event in a matter of seconds is something goes wrong.

Long story short, just pay the money and have someone else do it. That way you don't have to worry about it, it is done, guaranteed, and you won't have to do it again for quite a while. All of these things usually make the money you spend worth it.I have a 1998 Chevy Malibu. Note they r to be removed one at a time and replaced immediately. Also I was told this by a family mechanic. The spark plugs are still in my car in the box because i have learned that there is no way to fix this car on your own u need a professional for every little thing. About the fuel filter listen to the GM and Dodge guy. It cost me $900 for a fuel pump and filter because the fuel system is very well hidden and difficult. Note the fuel pump it's self was 600-700 because it was in the tank or something like that! So be safe and take it in if the filter is all u need! I have a 1997 ford E350 with a V10 6.8L engine, to change the fuel filter do i need a special tool?

if i do where can i get, what does it look like and how much is it. I could not find one anywhere.

Thanks for the help!I have a 1997 ford E350 with a V10 6.8L engine, to change the fuel filter do i need a special tool?Yes, you will need a special tool, it is called a spring lock tool. They are made of plastic and they wrap around the fuel line. You can find them and most auto part stores. When you go to get one, tell the parts guy you are trying to remove a fuel filter on your vehicle. and BE SURE to tell him it is for a Ford. He will know exactly what you are looking for. If you are not sure how to use it, ask the parts guy, he will show you how. You commonly buy that tool as a set which has different sizes. a good set will cost about $20. give or take.I have a 1997 ford E350 with a V10 6.8L engine, to change the fuel filter do i need a special tool?Yes you probably will ask one of your mechanic friends cause a shop will tell you any thing to make you give it to them so they can get paid. How do i change a fuel filter?

do i need to know anything before changing it? will gas pour out at me? and if so how do i stop it? and will their be air in the lines? How do i change a fuel filter?First of all, before you get going to do it, do you know where the fuel filter is located? It will either be a round canister looking thing on the frame rail with one rubber line coming out and one going in. That will be easy, some gas will come out, but as long as you have the car off, it will stop within a few seconds, just watch your face! If you are unlucky, the filter is in the fuel tank, which you will definitely not be able to replace yourself unless you have the tools and are confident you can drop the gas tank and put it back in. Good luck!

How hard is it to change the fuel filter on a 2003 Honda Odyssey?

DO NOT try to change those filters, they are life time filters and so not need to be changed, usually they are located in the fuel tank, but if the filter is located in the engine compartment, then that is changeable, and it is not hard to change them, all you need is three wrenches, sizes are different for every car, usually a 14mm, one 17mm and a 10mm will do, and you have to be able to get to it, that is the hard part, and be careful the fuel system is pressurized always, make sure to open the fuel line slowly and let the pressurized fuel drain first, then you could open the line and change the filter, good luckHow hard is it to change the fuel filter on a 2003 Honda Odyssey?it's in the tank before the fuel pump, also known as a fuel sock-part of the pump and float assembly, expen$ive.

The other one, outside the tank of course, can be changed easily enough. Depending on where they hide it underneath the car

    Fuel filter change question?

I want to change the fuel filter of my 2000 Dodge Truck RAM 2500 Van 5.2L SFI 8cyl. But I looked it up for the location and it says this: Under vehicle, center, below seating area, mounted on top of fuel tank, in fuel pump module.

What does %26quot;in fuel pump module%26quot; mean? Is it something that can be done by someone with basic knowledge on cars? Does it require to have the filter changed in the first place? Thank you!Fuel filter change question? There is no serviceable fuel filter on that van. Just the fuel strainer on the fuel pump module. Just needs to be changed whenever you replace the fuel pump.Fuel filter change question?it is in the tank in that model, if you are not having a problem with high fuel load pressures, leave it alone. not the easiest thing to do.

going back to your question, if you can look up pressure requirements for that truck, then measure pressure in that system. com-pare the two, and a long as you are in that range, you are ok. given the difficulty of that filter i am sure that the engineers put some thought to it to extend the life of that filter. never mind the fact that the fuel that is in your tank is filtered at least 5 times before it reaches the cylinders any way.

Is it easy to change a fuel filter in a 2005 VW Jetta ?

My car has been %26quot;missing%26quot; a lot lately, and I just got a few things ($420 worth) done at a VW dealer. It's still missing. I wonder if it could be a fuel filter, and if so, can any neighborhood motorhead do it ?Is it easy to change a fuel filter in a 2005 VW Jetta ?Not likely to be a fuel filter. But it does need to be replaced every 40,000 miles. Right rear of the car, under a black shield that you can get out of your way removing 2 10mm nuts. The shield won't come completly off but you can move it out of your way at that point. Then there are push pins on the lines that retain the hose to the filter. Be careful as it will squirt a little gas when you relieve the pressure. Then take out the two 10mm bolts that retain the filter bracket. Then slide the filter out. Put it back in the same direction or your car while really have problems.

I really need to know what size motor you have. If you have a VR6 then you have one coil. A 1.8 has 4 coils. Coils go bad all the time. You could have a bad sparkplug (cracked, from over tightening, or dropping it, wrong brand) You could have a bad plug wire. You could be putting 87 octane gas in it. Or there is even a software flash available at the dealer for misfires.

At night open your hood and with a spray bottle, spray your coil/coils and sparkplug wires. If one is bad you will get a small blue arc and a noise as it shorts to ground (misfires)Is it easy to change a fuel filter in a 2005 VW Jetta ?I'm sure a neighborhood motorhead could do it, although I doubt it's in a convenient place. I don't know where it is on your car so I may be wrong, but if he/she can reach it, it shouldn't be tough to swap it out.

I would call your VW dealer and complain that you're still having problems with the car and you just spent $420 at their dealership to fix it.Is it easy to change a fuel filter in a 2005 VW Jetta ?Have you changed your coil? They're known to go bad in VWs and will cause your engine to miss.

Next to Russian, English is the

    hardest language on earth.

There's a serious risk to fire there. You have to think about where the gasoline is going to go. Splashing across the engine of a car that's TURNED ON is extremely stupid.

If you can rearrange fuel lines so you positively capture the gas in a container, then using the car's fuel pump to empty the tank is kinda smart, however it's vital you shut off the fuel pump the instant it goes dry -- fuel pumps cannot run dry and are destroyed very quickly.

You won't get any debris that way, though. There's a second filter you don't know about on the fuel pickup inside the tank. It's designed to keep debris out of the fuel pump.

If this is an imaginary problem, forget about it. If this is a real and serious problem you are trying to solve, you'll probably need to drop the gas tank. So make it as light as possible first, by if possible, driving the car til it's on %26quot;E%26quot;, and as far past %26quot;E%26quot; as you dare push it. Also be prepared to buy new tank straps if the old ones look rusty. And be very careful pulling the tank, so you don't damage the wiring or the ground strap. Ugh, it's a dirty job.Park Avenue fuel filter change-is it safe to turn the key on with the filter off to exspell debree from the -?If there is something in the tank, the best thing to do would be to remove the tank and cleanit. This is a very serious fire hazard and gas will come out at high pressure. There is no way to get debris out of your fuel tank unless you remove the tank and have it steam cleaned. Thats the only way. There is a filter on the bottom of the fuel pump that is in your fuel tank that works to keep your fuel supply clean and any debris in the tank.Park Avenue fuel filter change-is it safe to turn the key on with the filter off to exspell debree from the -?That won't help much. If you have debris in the tank you need to remove the tank and clean it out. Running the debris through the pump wouldn't be good for it even if that did work. Most fuel pumps will only run for about a second with the gas line disconnected anyways.

    3) my fuel filter was under some vacuumm thingy on the passenger side-but the chilton book showed me exactly where it was. remove this and mark all hoses where they go.

    4) remove hose clamps from input and output fule lines

    6) remove old filter.

    7) replace in old with new, mind the arrows on fuel filter this tells you the flow of gas- also place hose clamps back.

Is it possible to change the fuel filter on a Mazda 3 without replacing the entire fuel pump?

um, yeah. the fuel filter is integrated into the fuel pump assembly making it unserviceable unless u pull the gas tank %26amp; given that u can find a fuel filter. mazda does not sell a fuel filter either. it comes as an assembly with the fuel pump %26amp; fuel level sensor. Gasoline is so clean nowadays that a regular fuel filter change is something most companies are not even worried about ne more.Is it possible to change the fuel filter on a Mazda 3 without replacing the entire fuel pump? You should be able to, but some of these late models are set up where you have to pull the pump out of the tank and replace the fliter and then reinstall the pump, but I didn't think that Mazda was one of them. The filter on a Mazda 3 should be under the car on the sub-frame, about under the front seats on the passenger's side.

By the time a vehicle is six or seven years old, there can be a fair amount of rust and debris in the fuel tank. Rust can be formed by moisture and condensation, and debris can get into your tank anytime you add fuel. So changing it on a periodic basis can help minimize the risk of plugging. How often should I change My Fuel Filter?i own a repair shop and id change it at least every 30 thousand, those things aren't as big as an oil filter and they do stop up easy,so the more miles you get on this car the more often id change it,but 30 thousand is a good time to change it,because all gas stations don't really have the best filtering system in the world when it comes to seeing that you don't get a lot of junk when you buy gas from them, good luck with it hope this helps. How often should I change My Fuel Filter?Every 12.000 milesHow often should I change My Fuel Filter?well recommended is about once a year or 12-15K miles

How can I change fuel filter of astra 1.7 cdti?

Please give information in detail.ThanksHow can I change fuel filter of astra 1.7 cdti?If you don't have over 60,000 miles on it, just keep driving until you get to 80,000 miles and then change it. However, if you've ever run out of gas, you should change it because debris from the tank gets pumped up into the filter then. Here in the USA we have http://www.autozone.com that shows filter location and installation instructions for US vehicles. This assumes you have a gasoline rather than diesel engine. A diesel fuel filter requires maintenance more often.

My car won't start for some reason, should I change the fuel filter?

The battery is good, the starter is good. Just one day I was driving my car it was working fine then the next morning I go out to start it and it wouldn't start, and I don't have a clue why

98 ford escortMy car won't start for some reason, should I change the fuel filter?if it,s not getting fuel to the engine then that would be a very good place to start by changing the fuel filter. but that won,t help the spark any if your not getting spark. My car won't start for some reason, should I change the fuel filter?your gonna have to give more hints than that. could be wiring, the battery could have froze. along with other thingsMy car won't start for some reason, should I change the fuel filter? If you are experiencing cold weather conditions that could be a reason. If so, try using a product called Heat, you add it into your gas tank and it helps your car start in winter.

Is it making noise when you try and start it or nothing at all? My oldsmobile used to have that issue where it wouldn't start, it just wouldn't even try to turn over. I had to crawl underneath the car and jump the starter with a screwdriver for it to work.

Also, even if the battery is good, it could be that the nodes are corroded. You might want to see if there is some build up where your connectors are. Using a rough bristled brush can take that corrosion off.

When I had a bad fuel pump my car would just die sometimes and not start so I always had to keep at least half a tank full to create some pressure. Does your car die on you or just not start at all?My car won't start for some reason, should I change the fuel filter? If you spray a little starting fluid into the intake and it tries to start, then it might be the fuel filter. But it coild be a lot of other things too.Like the MAF sensor. My car won't start for some reason, should I change the fuel filter? It could also be that the timing belt broke. If this is the case you should not be trying to start it over and over, it will damage the car. Other than that the next items would be fuel filter, air filter or some electrical part for ignition. Does the engine turn over? or does it sound different like there isn't any resistance? That would be timing belt.My car won't start for some reason, should I change the fuel filter? The fuel pump has quit on you. Try tapping on the gas tank with a wooden stick and try starting it again, if it starts, then you need to replace the fuel pump.

good luck......My car won't start for some reason, should I change the fuel filter?Yeah if it's something with the fuel, I would say fuel pump over the filter. They rarely get clogged enough to completely block fuel. Like others said it could be a multitude of things. Check to make sure you are getting spark, if not you got electrical problems.

Chevy Beretta 1995 how to change fuel filter?

i have a chevy beretta 1995 i got a fuel filter for it to replace does anyone kno how to replace the fuel filterChevy Beretta 1995 how to change fuel filter?Normally in all the Berettas i have seen and i had one myself is that the fuel filter is located in the rear of the car, near the gas tank. It is a small cylinder type object that is coming off your intake gas line from the tank. If you look under the car in the back you should see it. Chevy didn't change a whole lot in these cars, and it's unlikely they changed that. Look under the rear of your car and it should be a silverish color cylinder with lines hooked to it.

10 points! Can someone tell me step by step how to change a Fuel Filter on 92 GMC Safari?

For my car its located UNDERNEATH the car by the frame, and i also want to know if i need to release the fuel pressure before changing it?10 points! Can someone tell me step by step how to change a Fuel Filter on 92 GMC Safari?first unscrew the gas cap. then get a 20mm wrench and a 5/8 or 16mm line wrench. loosen both sides of the filter and put new filter on making sure the outlet side or arrow is facing torward the front of the vehicle. tighten lines and cycle the key a few times to build up pressure and check for leaks. start vehicle and again check for leaks10 points! Can someone tell me step by step how to change a Fuel Filter on 92 GMC Safari?hi, first of i have never done this but bieng it under the car thats going to be one extra hard thing, any way, first thing you need to cut the fuel supply so it wont pour everywhere . if you have some slack in the fuel line you would need to put a 180 bend in the supply line and support it with a peg or some thin wire, then you would need pliers and press the clip on both sides and release the hose from one end if its a screw then unscrew, now some petrol is going to fall out , thats ok but if it doesnt stop then youv chocked the wrong side lool , any way then unscrew the house from the other side, and ur god to go u should have the filter in ur hands by know , and place the new filter with right side of the flow , but now put the fuel supply in first with it chocked , un chocke it after it is fixed in place as soon as you see petrol coming out from the other side chock it again with the peg, then put the other side in and check that both sides are secure and your ready for a road trip,. note: be care full not to smoke u will need a screw for an emergny to cut fuel line by screwing it in the hole with it bent all the way back, and a tight tie around the bent hose ether with thin twist wire , or clothes peg, good luck and dont smoke or use a lighter for light down there.

  • Change fuel filter on a 96 accord?

It looks impossible to change the fuel filter from where it is. Do i just stick my hand in there and try my best to get it out? or is there another methodChange fuel filter on a 96 accord?According to Honda the fuel filter never needs to be changed unless you have a fuel system failure. There is a bypass valve in the fuel filter in case it begins to clog. However it is a good idea to change it in my mind because of that. Stick your hand in there and remember the connections are very tight. Good luck, you might want to hire it done.Change fuel filter on a 96 accord?the guy above is right but if you really need to change it you need to be strong to unscrew it they are a ***** to unscrew trustChange fuel filter on a 96 accord? The filter on your accord is the same design as my 96 Civic.

Disconnect the + cable from the battery first.

Have some rags handy for a bit of overflow but no pressure.

You need a 13 mm to loosen the fitting that leads into the top of the filter and use an adjustable to hold the fitting that is part of the filter. Twist counter-clockwise, will undo easily. Bottom fitting is the same. Once you have both fittings loose, you can undo the holder that the filter sits in.

Take your time and be mindful of the aluminum gaskets that come with the new filter.

It took me 30 minutes to do.

You can usually leave the bracket in place, just pull the filter out. On the one end, you'll need a flare nut wrench to keep from rounding the fitting, and another wrench to hold the filter. Probably a 20mm. The other end is a horse-shoe clip you pull out, and then pull the line straight off the filter. Helps to twist it a little first (axially). Make sure you have a new O-ring on that end when you put it back together, and check for leaks when you're done. How to change fuel filter? The fuel filter is next to the gas tank, above the rear axle assembly. I doubt you will be able to get to it without a lift or ramps if you are a do it yourselfer. You can buy the filter yourself for under ten dollars. There are two clips that hold the filter on. I would just buy the filter and take it to a shop and pay the half hour labor to have it installed, so figure 40-60 dollars depending where you live. How to change fuel filter?gm vehicles usually have the in-line fuel filter on the drivers side just under the vehicle, on my 04 gmc is attached right on the fuel tank with a plastic bracket, should be no more than 6 or 7 bucks at an auto parts store, very easy to change, just de-press the grey buttons on each side of the fuel connection and it should pop off, just make sure all pressure is released before doing this or else you might get a face full of gasoline.... best way is to let the car sit overnight and replace the filter before starting that engineHow to change fuel filter?it should be about the same place my olds. is. on the drivers side, back by the rear tire, along the body. its not real hard to change. you need to relese the pressure off the tank first, then you will need a line wrench to loosen the lines from the filter. How to change fuel filter? They are generally in line under the rocker panel around the driver door. if you have the tools its usually pretty easy but I have done a few that were really hard. How do you change a fuel filter on a 1990 Cheverolet Berretta?

There are a few cautions before the answer---the fuel filter is on a line that is part of a closed system--by that I mean it is a sealed system that is under a great deal of pressure and when anything opens that line, gas will spew with great force. That presents a fire hazard---spewed gasoline is mostly spray--and vapors more readily dissipate--and the vapors are the worst part os THIS scenario--vapors are heavier than air and can find a igniton source and EXPLODE--static from your clothes--- pilot lights in the garage--cell phone rings and BOOM---anything can set off gasoline fumes. Then if that doesn't happen, the fluid will get on your hands and run down your arms and get in your clothes and on your shoes--BOOM---now you are a torch. Static again is the culprit--and then the SPILLED fluid becomes a problem--how do you sop it up and what will you do with the towels???? No matter where you put them--it is an explosion hazard---remember my words about the fumes??? And then if the stuff gets in your eyes or you get it sprayed in your mouth---major medical issues...fluid build up in your lungs is a fatal condition....chemical pnuemonia is the diagnosis. So to change the filter--GO TO A GOOD MECHANIC. GOOD LUCKHow do you change a fuel filter on a 1990 Cheverolet Berretta?take the old one off and put the new one onHow do you change a fuel filter on a 1990 Cheverolet Berretta?turn it counter clockwise

Jiffy Lube wants like $65, i'm guessing it's got to be fairly easy to do. Does anyone know how to do it and can you fill me in?How do you change a fuel filter in a diesel Ford F-350 Super Duty? The fuel filter is on top of the engine. Depending on the year model, it is either a screw on filter or a paper element inside a canister. If it is an older model, simply unscrew the old filter, fill the new one with fuel and screw it back on. If it's a newer model, it is located under a black cover on top of the engine that is held in place with a couple of nuts that will need to be removed. The filter housing has a 3%26quot; diameter black plastic cap on it. Unscrew the cap, remove the old filter and replace with a new one. Fill housing to top with fuel and screw cap back on.

How do you change the fuel filter in a 2001 HD Fatboy?

Where is it located, and is there a chemical that can remove the gunk build up?How do you change the fuel filter in a 2001 HD Fatboy? For 2001, the Fatboy was available in both a carbureted model (FLSTF) and a fuel injected model (FLSTFI). If you've got the fuel injected model, then the fuel filter is located inside the tank. If you've got the carbureted model, then Bart is correct, there is a screen behind the petcock.

If you're not sure which model you've got, check the VIN number to see if the sixth digit is an %26quot;M%26quot; (FLSTF - carbureted Fatboy) or an %26quot;X%26quot; (FLSTFI - fuel injected Fatboy).

To clean the carbureted model's filter, you drain the gas from the tank, remove petcock and filter, clean filter with compressed air, reinstall. The fuel injected model requires that you drain the tank, remove the entire pump assembly from inside the tank, and then replace the filter (it can't be cleaned).
