I found out the hard way that I have to pull the fuse so it doesn't continue to pump fuel.The fuse I thought it was didn't stall the car so I think it's a big block thing in the fuse case under the hood.I can't pull it out and I don't want to break it.What am I missing?I want to change the fuel filter on a 2002 Suburban?As long as the key is off you have nothing to worry about. No reason for you to have to pull a fuse or relay.I want to change the fuel filter on a 2002 Suburban?If you are trying to change the filter and fuel is pouring out....don't think its the fuel pump, its not, unless the ignition is on the fuel pump is not running, there is no need to pull the fuse. Best thing to do when working with fuel stuff is pull a batt. terminal off, to prevent fires.......then change the filter. Once again, bad advice from a fool who says he is an auto tech. You are subject to a ban.
You MUST relieve the fuel pressure as you mentioned. Pull fuel pump relay, crank engine, run fuel line dry.
Popping the gas cap off does not release pressure from between the fuel pump and the injectors! Of course, with the awful advice here, you are subject to drinking 45 PSI worth of gasoline.
